Fowler Road to Re-Open Friday Afternoon

Updated August 13, 2010: Fowler Road is slated to re-open this afternoon at 5 p.m. The county appreciates motorists’ patience during this closure.

Updated August 5, 2010: The Fowler Road culvert project has been delayed due to the heavy rains in July and is on schedule for all work to be completed by August 13, 2010.

Fowler Road will be closed temporarily to through traffic to allow for construction of a concrete box culvert at an unnamed tributary to Big Creek, between Mullinax Road and State Route 9. The closure is scheduled to begin Monday, June 7. The road is expected to be re-opened by Friday, August 6.

“Several road closures occur each year on Fowler Road due to flooding,” Assistant Director of Engineering Tim Allen said. “The goal of this project is to eliminate those flooding issues.”

“Motorists’ patience during this work is appreciated,” Director of Engineering John Cunard said.

The project is funded by the county’s current Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax program, SPLOST VI.
